On the 4th January 2020 devastating bushfires hit our region. Our club ran an emergency evacuation centre for 16 days, cooking breakfast for those who had to leave their homes. As you see in the photos, we were dealing with a dusty area.  After the evacuation was over, we applied for a grant to upgrade our Social Interaction Area from the Rural city of Wangaratta.

The club applied for a grant to build a toilet block. The funding was granted from the Victorian State Government Bushfire Recovery Victoria Funding Program. This building started with the removal of fences on the 2nd of July 2022 and the opening of the building was on the 25th March 2023 by the Mayor of the Rural City of Wangaratta, Cr Dean Rees, on behalf of the Victorian State Government, The Honourable Jaclyn Symes MP and the Rural City of Wangaratta.

Completion cost was $92,000

We applied for a grant through the Foundation for Rural Regional Renewal for the upgrade of our Kitchen Area. We started this upgrade by removal of existing walls and extending the kitchen on the 25th September 2023, and it was completed just before Christmas 2023. This included the upgrade of the office area as well.
